A park café has re-opened under new management, with all profits set to be invested back into the community.

Rotunda Café in Burnley has been taken over by Burnley Leisure and re-opened its doors last week.

The cafe was previously run for 15 years by sisters Jean Holt and Joyce Finn under the name Caffeine Rush.

The café, based in Towneley Park, was due to be re-tendered in early 2022, with the council receiving three bids and accepting one from Park Life Cafes, however the council decided to go back on their decision.

Following this, the council said that the previous operators would remain in place until the end of the year when they would look again for new operators.

A spokesperson for Burnley Leisure said: “We are pleased to announce that we are now serving delicious food and drinks from our new café, Rotunda, situated in the picturesque Towneley Park.

“Rotunda is the latest addition to our portfolio of hospitality venues, all of which operate on a not-for-profit basis with the aim of giving back to the Burnley community.

“We have a delicious takeaway menu for you to enjoy while spending time in the grounds of Towneley Hall, keeping an eye on the kids playing, or enjoying the ornamental gardens.

“We look forward to seeing you there soon.”

Burnley Leisure went on to say that the venue will reinvest every penny into the community, funding projects like stroke and cardiac rehabilitation, swimming lessons for children, education programmes in schools and access to culture for all.

The menu includes hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, cakes, flapjacks and more.

The café is open from 10am until 4pm on Monday to Friday and 8am until 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Burnley Leisure also operates the Boathouse Café in Thompson Park as well as the Burnley Mechanics Theatre, Barden Athletics Track, Prairie Sports Village, Towneley Golf Club, Padiham Leisure Centre and St Peters Leisure Centre.
