People across the country will be heading to their favourite chippy tonight to stick with the traditional Good Friday meal.
Blackburn boasts some of the best chip shops around, and here we’ve listed five where you can get your fix.
Holly Tree Fish and Chips, Livesey
First up on our list is Holly Tree Fish and Chips located in Holly Tree Village.
The eatery is rated four out of five stars and is ranked 51st out of 143 restaurants in Blackburn on TripAdvisor.
As well as the usual array different fish, pies and chicken, Holly Tree also has a secret weapon up its sleeve in the form of a John Bull – seasoned mince meat between two slices of potato surrounded by a light crispy batter.

The shop is open around lunchtime from 11.30am to 1.30pm, and then reopens again from 4 to 7pm.
Of the 71 reviews left on TripAdvisor, 45 rated Holly Tree as ‘excellent’ while a further 10 rated it ‘very good’.
Clayton Street Chippy (Clacky D's), Great Harwood
Next up is Clayton Street Chippy, also known as Clacky D's, in Great Harwood.
It is rated 4.5 out of five stars and is rated third out of 13 restaurants in Great Harwood on TripAdvisor.
One review left on the website said: "Second visit in a couple of months - friendly service, dining room spotless, and most importantly, nice and warm, food quality and value for money."
AJK Fish & Chips
Third on our list is AJK Fish & Chips on Johnston Street, close to the centre of town.
Based on 31 TripAdvisor reviews it comes out with a rating of 4.5 stars out of five and ranks sixth out of 26 for ‘quick bites in Blackburn’.

One reviewer said it was “one of the best chippies in Blackburn” and added the only thing that stopped them from giving five stars was the long wait due to the popularity of the restaurant.
AJK is open every day of the week from 4pm to 10pm.
Michael's Plaice
Michael's Plaice on Shorrock Lane is the fourth place on our list.
TripAdvisor gives it a four star rating based on four reviews, one of which said: “What a wonderful chippy! We were so happy to find it open and were welcomed so warmly. Delicious fish and chips and huge portions."
Additionally, on Facebook, Michael's Plaice comes out with five stars based on 50 reviews.
The restaurant opens from 11.30am to 1.30pm around lunchtime and then again at 4.15pm to 6.30pm in the evenings, Monday to Friday.
Old Mill Hill Chippy
The final chippy on our list is Old Mill Hill Chippy on New Chapel Street.
This restaurant has all of the traditional chippy offerings such as fish, pies and sausages and also serves up the aforementioned John Bull.
TripAdvisor gives it a five star rating based on the 46 reviews left, and it ranks 21st out of the 143 restaurants it has listed in Blackburn.

One review said: “Wow, fully exceeded my expectations. The service was prompt and quality of food was great. Will be back again. Everyone enjoyed it.”
Old Mill Hill Chippy opens from 11.30am until 1pm, and then from 4om to 6pm (6.30pm on Fridays) during the week.
