With the spring season upon us, I was invited to test ride the biggest and most boisterous rides Blackpool Pleasure Beach has on offer, and report back to readers as to whether they came up to the mark.
I was told the role of a rollercoaster test rider would require an individual with an exceptional sense of fun and excitement, to ensure the major rides at the Pleasure Beach have the necessary fear-factor, and deliver maximum thrills and terror for the most discerning of guests.
Sounds like me? Absolutely not - I’m terrified of heights, and on my last visit to the park I became quickly queasy thanks to the large Wetherspoons breakfast I had decided to line my stomach with.
But not one to turn down a ludicrous challenge, off I trotted anyway.
The video above shows my day of hair-raising horror, on which I was subjected to solo rides on Icon, Enso, The Big One, Infusion and Ice Blast.
Despite having thought myself horribly unsuited to the task, these monstrous rides made an adrenaline fiend out of me by the end of the day, and I would highly recommend giving them a go to both the most adventurous fans of theme parks, and those more like me thinking they might like to blast out of their comfort zone for a day.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach is now open daily for the spring season from April 1st.
