The former owner of Mangiamo’s is taking the helm alongside his partner of a popular pub.
Vassilis Vassiliou and his partner Zoe have announced that they will be taking over the Rock Inn in Tockholes next month.
Vass, 55, owned and ran Mangiamo Italian Restaurant in Darwen for a quarter of a century but decided to sell the business in March 2021.
He said he was selling so he could spend more time with his family, and now he and his partner Zoe are working together on their latest business venture.
A statement on the Rock Inn social media page reads: “Vass, Zoe and our fantastic team are excited to announce our family venture of taking over the Rock Inn from May.
“We are offering a great snack menu with daily pub specials in the snug area welcoming everyone including our furry friends.
“The restaurant area will have a Mediterranean feel with the cuisine and surroundings.
“Our food will be authentic and home cooked by our Chef Vass.
“Myself and the team will offer a great selection of wines, beers, cask ales and cocktails.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone old & new to meet the team in our family-run pub and restaurant.”
The announcement was met with a lot of support from residents, with many regulars saying they are looking forward to going back to the pub.
Following the closure of the Rock Inn last year, owner Thwaites advertised the pub with a five-year tenancy.
The pub was built in 1701 and was renovated in 2017.
The Mediterranean restaurant will be available on a booking basis only.
