In what is one of the busiest days for the hospitality industry, many families enjoy taking a day away from the kitchen and enjoying a roast dinner at a local pub.
So you don’t have to, we have put together a list of the best places to enjoy a Sunday roast in and around Blackburn, according to TripAdvisor.
Ribchester Arms
Where: Blackburn Road, Ribchester, Blackburn PR3 3ZP
TripAdvisor Rating: 4 ½ stars
The Ribchester Arms is about seven miles from Blackburn town centre and is a popular choice for Sunday Lunch.
The Ribchester Arms was originally called The New Hotel, having been built by the Blackburn Brewing Co in the early 1900’s.
One reviewer said: “Myself and my husband have visited tonight. I had chicken Sunday Dinner which is one of the best I’ve had, loved how Cauliflower Cheese came as part of the vegetables and wasn’t charged any extra. Good size portion.
“My husband had tomato soup for starter which he said was very creamy and delicious and he chose pate starter but as a main, there was plenty of it.
“We we’re too full for a pudding. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and they all work so hard.
“Would highly recommend and will be returning.”
Bonny Inn
Where: Ribchester Road, Clayton le Dale BB1 9HQ

The Bonny Inn is about a four-mile drive from Blackburn town centre and offers a fantastic Sunday lunch.
The pub is dog friendly and can be traced back to 1822 before being bought by Thwaites in 1864.
One reviewer commented: “Really enjoyed my sirloin roast beef dinner it was beautiful, it came with a range of vegetables, and was plenty for two of us, I couldn't even handle it.
“All this came on a set menu with a starter I choose the cauliflower soup and the price was good, to say what you'd pay at a carvery on a Sunday which is standard compared to the Bonny Inn’s roast.
“My fiancé had the lamb and enjoyed it too, his starter looked amazing and well presented. Staff was very polite too.”
The Dog Inn
Where: Belthorn Road, Belthorn, Blackburn BB1 2NN

A very popular choice, the Dog Inn is just a stones throw from Blackburn, just off the Grane Road.
The popular pub has recently reopened and their Sunday lunch menu includes both beef and chicken as well as fish and chips and a tofu katsu curry.
One review said: “Had a wonderful Sunday Roast today. Starters and Roasts were wonderful, lovely food service, bar staff and bar prices amazing. Can't wait to return!”
While another added: “Great warm welcome, great ale, great food and brilliant service. The Sunday roast was perfectly cooked. Well done The Dog Inn. We will be back.”
The Millstone, Mellor
Where: Church Lane, Mellor, Blackburn BB2 7JR

The Millstone in Mellor is a friendly, warming pub boasting views of the Ribble Valley countryside.
The menu includes beef, pork and chicken as well as a meat free roast.
One reviewer said: “Really enjoyed our Sunday’s roasts.
“We’ve been back two weeks in a row as we are relatively local. The beef is tender and tasty, not over cooked. I had chicken roast today and it was juicy and delicious.
“There’s veg, roasted potatoes and mash as well as a huge Yorkshire pudding.
“Good bar selection and puddings.
“Best of all it is so dog friendly with treats and a plate of beef for our good boy.
“The staff is friendly, attentive and helpful. Our new fave!”
Black Bull Inn
Where: Old Langho Road, Blackburn BB6 8AW
TripAdvisor Rating: 4 ½ stars
The Black Bull Inn is just under 20 minutes from Blackburn and has ‘the best roast’ according to reviewers.
The pub serves a traditional Sunday roast but you can occasionally get a full dinner during the week on their specials menu.
One reviewer said: “Stayed locally with a group of friends and went here today for lunch. THE best roast we have all had. Yorkshire pudding to die for.
“Lovely pub, fantastic attentive staff and we would all most definitely go back. Just sublime.”
