A major road into Darwen is closed following a serious crash.
Darwen Road in Bromley Cross is closed following a serious incident.
Fire crews and other emergency services are on scene and road closures are in place.
People are beong asked to avoid the area and to expect delays.
A Bolton Council spokesperson said: "Darwen Road is closed following a serious incident. We understand the road is likely to be closed for some time. Please avoid the area and plan ahead if collecting children from nearby schools."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said: "Our crews are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision on Darwen Road, Bromley Cross.
"Road closures and diversions are in place around the scene.
"Please avoid the area while crews and other emergency services carry out their work."

Earlier, emergency services were at the car park of the Retreat Pub on Darwen Road with traffic cordoned off by The Sportsmans Pub and diverted up Windsor Road.
Two air ambulances were also on scene.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "It is believed to be a two-car road traffic collision.
"GMP were called to the Darwen Road junction at around midday with other emergency services in attendance.
"The extent of the injuries sustained are not known this time, but is an ongoing serious incident so limited detail at the moment.
"Delays are expected as a result."
