A nurse who “seemed fine” when she last spoke to her husband died as a result of suicide, an inquest has heard
Hannah Cartwright, 33, was found hanged by her husband when he returned home from a friend’s house on November 25.
He returned to their Longridge home at around 8pm, during half-time of the England v USA World Cup match.
Upon entering the house, he discovered Mrs Cartwright’s body and she was taken to Royal Preston Hospital.
A statement from a hospital consultant said that Mrs Cartwright was found unconscious and unresponsive, but after around 20 minutes of CPR spontaneous circulation resumed.
A CT scan suggested Mrs Cartwright had a brain injury and she was admitted to critical care but never recovered.
She died on the afternoon of November 28 with a medical cause of death given as asphyxiation by hanging.
A statement from Mrs Cartwright’s GP confirmed that she had never received any medication and there was nothing to suggest any suicidal feelings.
At Preston Coroner's Court, Coroner Richard Taylor recorded a conclusion of suicide and offered his condolences to the family.
