A drug dealer was found with a tray bake of THC-infused cakes in his car after being pulled over by police.

Nathan Madden, 33, and Jordan Winder, 30, both set up a business dealing the drug infused cakes over about four months.

Paul Cummings, prosecuting at Preston Crown Court said on February 19, 2022, a police officer stopped a car being driven by Winder in Lancaster and found a tray bake, cut up into nine pieces, and three more bits of cake.

The cake was tested and found to contain Tetrahydrocannabinol – the main psychoactive constituent of the class B drug cannabis.

Officers also found £990 in cash and a mobile phone.

The mobile phone showed Winder was responsible for dealing the cakes.

There were messages between the pair talking about their criminal activity.

Officers also executed a warrant on Madden’s address.

The cakes were valued at between £120 and £240.

It was also estimated the pair could have made between £60 and £600 per day from the cakes.

Mitigating for Winder, Harriet Tighe said he was a single father of two children and that prison time would have a severe impact upon them.

Ms Tighe also argued Winder, of Beaumont Street, Lancaster, has not been in trouble with police since the offending in February 2022.

She said: “This is a defendant who has low risk of re-conviction.

“He has demonstrated remorse for his actions and appreciates the foolishness of what he got himself into.”

Mitigating for Madden, Niamh Ingham said he now lives in Jersey and works full time as a chef.

Madden, now of Ville De La Croix, St Oven, said this offending was ‘not like him’ and that he was embarrassed by what he was doing.

Winder and Madden both pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of a class B drug, and were each handed an eight month sentence, suspended for one year.

Madden was also fined £600, while Winder must pay a fine of £240.
