A man from East Lancashire is raising money for his dad who has been taken into care due to Alzheimer’s disease.
Gordon Atkinson was diagnosed with the debilitating disease and has been taken into care as a result.
His son, Elliot Atkinson, of Tennyson Street, Briercliffe, is trying to raise money to create a dedicated outdoor space for his dad who is a passionate gardener.
The aim is to create a garden where his dad, Gordon and the other care home residents can grow their own fruit and vegetable as well as having a communal space where people can socialise in the summer.
Elliot has set a goal of £1,200 and has almost reached the target with supporters donating a total of £810 so far.
Elliot said: “As many people know dad has been taken into a care down to Alzheimer’s and my dad loved his gardening wanting to raise money to create an outdoor space for my dad and other residents to grow their own fruit and veg and have somewhere nice to sit and relax when the nicer weather comes.
“Not a big one for running but ready to get going to raise money for the plot any contribution will be greatly appreciated.”
