A boy from East Lancashire is becoming a rising star in the television industry after landing acting roles in Netflix and ITV shows.
Taylor Fay, a primary school pupil from Burnley, makes an appearance in Netflix show Shadow and Bone, an American fantasy based on a series of books by Leigh Bardugo called the Shadow and Bone trilogy.
He plays the role of Alby Rollins and spent three weeks filming the show in Budapest, Hungary, last March.
Mum, Laura Bell, said: “He’s only on the show for two episodes and he isn’t even in it for long but he is still a key character, who makes an appearance from a different book series called the the Six of Crows.
“The fans were in a bit of a frenzy over it.”
Laura said Taylor had a great time on set and shared pictures of him with other cast members, who include Harry Potter and My Family star Zoe Wanamaker and Ben Barnes, who played Caspian in the Chronicles of Narnia series and appeared in the series Westworld.
It isn’t the only television show that they Burnley boy has appeared in.
Last year he starred in Last Light, a mini-series starring Matthew Fox (Lost) and Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey).
He played a leading role in this show, portraying the character of Sam Yeats.
Laura said: “Before Last Light he had never been on a set before and I didn’t know if he was going to like it or not but he absolutely loves filming.
“We attended a red carpet event for this and it was strange to be there with these big Hollywood superstars.
“Fans were screaming for him and following him, asking for his autograph.”
Taylor has also been acting alongside Alan Carr in an upcoming ITV production of Changing Ends, which is set to be released in June.
Changing Ends is based on Alan’s own life in Northampton in the 1980’s growing up as the son of a fourth division football manager.
Taylor, who has never been professionally trained in acting, plays Alan’s younger brother, Gary Carr.
Laura said: “We got to meet Alan on set and he was so lovely. The first question he asked was what his favourite flavour of crisps was.”
Laura thinks this is just the start of Taylor’s acting career.
She said: “It feels weird to see him on screen, it’s so strange knowing so many fans know he exists.
“It’s the start of a special career for him. He’s had 10 other auditions in the last three weeks. I think this is what he’s going to do for as long as he wants to and is happy to.
“He’s taking it all in his stride. He’s doing it purely because he enjoys doing it, no other reason.”
