A fun fair is set to make a return to Blackburn for the Easter school holidays and we have all of the details.

Blackburn’s Easter Fair will kick off at Witton Country Park on Friday, March 31, until Sunday, April 16.

With more than 50 rides and attractions, the Witton Park event has something for everyone.

New for this year is the 'Tagada'. The attraction features a giant spinning drum, with riders sat around the outside, and a random sequence of bouncing movements.

The ride is described as a “test of endurance but a lot of fun” and no two rides are the same.

The tallest ride on the fair this year will be the 'Freak Out', a giant swinging ‘claw’ that spins passengers up to 21 metres, nearly 70 feet, into the sky.

Thrill-seekers will also enjoy the 'Fighter', back by popular demand, and 'Joker'.

More family-friendly attractions include the fun house, dodgems, waltzers, helter skelter and other children’s rides.

Some lucky fair-goers will be going home with a giant soft toy from one of the many games stalls on site, which also include hook-a-duck.

A selection of hot food, sweet treats and snacks will also be available.

The mayor of Blackburn with Darwen will be touring the fair on the afternoon of Saturday, April 1, and he may be giving free ride tickets away.

Hundreds of free rides will be provided to disadvantaged children by the fair’s organiser, the Lancashire Section of The Showmen’s Guild, on Maundy Thursday (April 6).

“Witton Country Park is one of the nicest locations we visit each year, and we can’t wait to be back,” says Warren Cubbins from The Showmen’s Guild.

“With 17 days of family fun, we should be in for some good weather during the stay, so why not get out of the house for a few hours and come enjoy all the fun of the fair.”

Once held in the town centre the fair was moved to Witton Park in the 1960s after a redevelopment of the Market Square.

Though now exclusively a pleasure fair, it used to have stalls selling pots and crockery.

Opening times are from 5pm until 9pm on Friday, March 31, and then daily from 12pm until 9pm from Saturday, April 1, until Sunday, April 16.

Entry to the fair will be free at all times, and there is a large car park on site, for which the council charges a small fee.

Attractions start at £2.50 for kids rides and from £3 for big rides, but discount vouchers will be published soon.
