A pizza and kebab shop has been handed a zero-star food hygiene rating.
Pizza Guys on Whalley New Road, Blackburn, has been handed the lowest rating by the Food Standards Agency following an inspection on February 8.
It is the only restaurant out of 205 in Blackburn with Darwen to have a zero rating.
A manager at the takeaway said: "They said that maintenance work needs to be done and we are waiting for the person qualified to fix these things inside.
"I am doing everything for that and we are trying our best.
"We are also looking at having a renovation as well.
"We are considering all the possible options to improve."
The inspector looks at three different areas in the takeaway when conducting the inspection.
One of the areas inspected is hygienic food handling, which includes preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage – the inspector said that improvement was necessary.
The inspector also looks at the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, which includes having an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene – the inspector said that major improvement was necessary for this.
Finally, inspectors look at the management of food safety which includes system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
The inspector again said that major improvement was necessary.
A total of 113 of the takeaways in Blackburn with Darwen have ratings of five.
