A popular village pub that sits on Back Lane, the original road from Accrington to Manchester, a short walk uphill from Manchester Road. Behind the pub is Baxenden Cricket Club and a sign on the pub wall indicates right for cricket and left for golf. Buses from Accrington to Manchester and the Rossendale Valley pass close by. There is usually entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights, a weekly quiz, a pool team, a darts team and more recently a football team. Externally there is an extensive beer garden which can seat around 120 people and a car park with 10 spaces
