A mountain rescue team was called to a rural location in East Lancashire today (10 March) after a vehicle became stranded in the snow.
Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team were called in the early hours of the morning to a location near Wycoller, after being contacted by the North West Ambulance Service.
A person was stranded in their vehicle and pictures show the car surrounded by thick snow.
The team headed to the location and had to use a specialist vehicle to get to the car as the road was impassable.
The casualties were shuttled down to the main road where they were checked over by paramedics.
The rescue team returned home at around 4.30am.
A spokesperson for the mountain rescue team said: “Many will be out enjoying the snow today but the team remains on call through all weather to assist throughout the community.
“Please do your bit and refrain from making unnecessary journeys and be prepared in case of unexpected issues.”
The Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team is a fully voluntary organisation which responds to those in need in the community.
The team's volunteers are on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and rely entirely on donations from members of the public to carry out this essential life-saving rescue service.
You can help with the work they do and support the team by texting 'RPMRT' and an amount (ie 'RPMRT10') to 70085 to donate today. Alternatively, donate online at www.justgiving.com/RPMRT or www.donr.com/rpmrt.
