Members of Peel Lions are pictured presenting an ‘Ambulift’ to Ramsbottom Cottage Hospital in October 1974.
President Michael Newton handed over the equipment to Sister-in-Charge Jean Hughes. The ‘Ambulift’ was used to help patients in and out of bed.
At the time, the hospital catered mainly for post-operative orthopaedic patients.
The hospital closed in 2008 after serving the area for 110 years.
