Two East Lancashire firefighters are hoping to bring something different to their home town and are set to open a new café lounge and bar.
David Loney and Aaron Goult are set to open Station Brew in Bacup at the end of March.
According to David the Market Street business, which is a café, restaurant and bar, will have something for everyone in the community to enjoy.
Bacup-born David said: “It’s not just a coffee shop, a restaurant or bar.
"It is a ‘Jack of all trades’ and we want it to be a relaxing place people in the town can visit if they don’t want to stay at home.
“People don’t want to just sit in pubs, they want somewhere with a more relaxed atmosphere.
“We wanted to open a place where people can start off drinking coffee and having a chat with a friend.
“Then they can move onto wine later on if they feel like it.”
According to David, Bacup is in great need of a business like this.
He said: “I have lived here all of my life and I know the town is in desperate need of some inspiration and new cultural venues.
"It simply needs and deserves a venue like this.
“You see small businesses thriving in bigger towns such as Rawtenstall and Todmorden.
"We are in the middle of the two and not much is happening here – why should we be any different?
“We have the power to be able to make that difference. Instead of just talking about it we decided to take action and actually look for a place to set up the business.
“Street Food Kitchen became available and we just snatched it up.”
The final menu is yet to be finalised but David said they are likely to start off serving pizzas, burgers and sandwiches.
Once it is up and running, David is considering introducing one-off guest chef nights where different types of cuisine will be served.
David said: “The announcement has already received a huge and positive reaction on social media.
“We can’t wait to welcome everybody when it’s finally open.”
