HOMES on a new flagship multi-million pound development are set to go on sale soon.
In December 2021 Elan Homes was granted detailed planning permission to build 76 homes in Lower Darwen.
Now the Cheshire-based housebuilder is preparing to market the first of the energy-efficient three and four-bedroomed properties.
The development, christened 'Tower Gardens', is part of the redevelopment of the eyesore site of the former Lower Darwen Paper Mill near junction 4 of the M65
The scheme is taking shape across an 8.64 acre site between Milking Lane and Millbank Road acquired from Barnfield Blackburn Ltd, a joint venture between the Blackburn with Darwen Council and Brierfield-based Barnfield Construction.
All of the homes at the development will be for private sale, offering a choice of semi-detached and detached designs.
The Elan development will include more than five acres of public open space.
It includes flood relief measures involving a surface water lagoon on site and four weirs along Davyfield Brook to slow the flow of water.
There will also be improvements to a public right of way through the site, including a footbridge over the watercourse.
Elan will make a financial contribution towards off-site affordable housing provision in Blackburn with Darwen borough.
arie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes, said: “We have a solid reputation for building quality homes in sought-after locations.
"We’re looking forward to launching Tower Gardens, offering a good choice of energy-efficient new build homes in Lower Darwen.
"The housing mix was driven by market demand in the area, which highlighted a need for family homes.
"We’ve been receiving enquiries from people keen to live at Tower Gardens since we first submitted plans for the development.
"The homes in Lower Darwen will have broad appeal. Lower Darwen Primary School neighbours the site, making it ideal for families.
“The area benefits from a number of convenience shops and other essential services, plus the centre of Blackburn is just a few miles away.
"The M65 is easily accessible offering links to Bolton, Preston and Manchester.”
The overall project called the project called ‘Mill Bank’ includes several commercial units and a new spine road.
