Plans have been submitted to a council seeking permission to turn some agricultural land into a glamping pod development.
Adrian Duke, of Ilkley, West Yorkshire, wants to change the land, just off Dotcliffe Road in Kelbrook, into tourist accommodation by installing four glamping pods including associated parking and infrastructure.
Proposals were submitted to Pendle Council last week, with the pods intended to house just two people, meaning a maximum of eight people could lodge on the land at any one time.
A design and access statement reads: “Pedestrian access onto the site is achieved through the new personnel gate at the entrance to the site.
“All four pods have pedestrian access from the vehicle parking area.
“Vehicle access to the site from Dotcliffe Road will be via the widened gateway, giving a minimum 3100mm width. This wider entrance will allow access to the site for fire appliances.
“The development has sought to minimise the visual impact on the open countryside viewed from the public footpath and other surrounding public viewpoints as much as possible, by its location being concentrated closer to the existing dwellings to the north with additional landscaping to screen it.”
Lowe level lighting bollards will be located at the steps to the site and on the car park.
The pods would be made from timber shiplap boarding and would have metal finished Velux style windows to the side elevation, which would be coloured dark grey.
There would be space for four cars to park adjacent to the pods.
