A Blackburn fundraiser is aiming to run 10km every single day during the month of Ramadan in aid of good causes.
Faizal Momoniat, 41, is used to setting himself challenges and raised £3,000 for charity by completing 5km runs every day during Ramadan in 2022.
This year Ramadan is set to begin on March 23 and throughout the month Muslims will refrain from eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset.
The first week of fasts will end at around 6.45pm but with the clocks going forward an hour they will be longer after the end of March.
This time, Faizal wants to double his fundraising target and reach a £6,000 target but it also means him pushing his body to new limits.
He said: “I did a 5k running challenge last Ramadan whilst fasting and ran for 30 days.
"I raised over £3,000 at the end of Ramadan to build water wells and hand pumps across Asia, Africa and Middle East.
“This year I will step up my running. I will run 10k (6.2 miles), everyday whilst fasting in Ramadan.
"I want to raise over £6,000 for the victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake; I want to provide clean accessible water for the victims of the earthquake.
“It is not going to be easy but I have kept up my running through the year and hopefully we can raise more.”
The money will be donated to Benefit Mankind.
Faizal took up running 16 years ago and has completed many 5k and 10k runs, around 15 half marathons, three full marathons, and two ultra marathons (35 and 50 miles).
