A new Tory candidate inspired by Tiger Patel says he won’t be wasting his time ‘eating pakoras and samosas’ as he announced his bid to become a councillor.
IT consultant Ishaq Vaez said he wanted to ‘resolve issues and address concerns’ in is his local area of Frenchwood in Preston by running as its Conservative candidate at the upcoming council elections.
He also got the backing from Blackburn’s Tiger Patel, who nicknamed him ‘Tiger number two’.
Ishaq said he had been campaigning for funding for the local park following requests from residents.
He said: “The kids need somewhere safe to park rather than being addicted to phones and having psychological effect whereas park involves physical exercise
“The kids are better playing on bikes in the park and being pro-active just like old times and staying away from technology.”
He said he is hoping the play equipment is upgraded with extras in the future as well and park entrance is revamped.
On his bid to become a councillor he said: “I won't be spending time eating samosas and pakoras in the office.
"I want to address street lighting, fly tipping, speed related issue and pot holes.”
Audley and Queens Park Councillor Tiger Patel shot to fame in 2021 when he was elected as a Conservative councillor in Blackburn with Darwen after his campaign video, which saw him posing in a children's playground, went viral.
He said he was flattered that other people were being inspired by his efforts.
Cllr Patel said: “It is great that people are making an effort to change their won communities in the best way they can.
“Ishaq would make a great councillor as he is a hard working and lovely chap.
“He could take on the mantle of being Tiger number two!
“It would be great to have more Tiger’s across the UK.”
Ishaq: “Tiger works from his heart. I am also inspired by him and so are so many others. I am taking the ‘lion approach’ to providing community services.”
