Animals in Chorley have been seized by the police after being exposed to cruelty.

Officers have had a busy last few day making arrests and seizing animals and stolen plants in the area.

Nine dogs who were exposed to cruelty and neglect and 12 birds suspected to have been taken from the wild have been seized.

A farm burglar was arrested for several offences as well as other people for serious cruelty offences.

A spokesperson for the police said: “This last few days has been as busy for South Rural Taskforce as ever as we tackle rural crime across the division.

“We have recovered more stolen expensive plant. Seized nine dogs exposed to cruelty and neglect, 12 birds suspected to have been taken from the wild, supported our NPT teams in the arresting of a farm burglar for several offences, arrested suspects for serious cruelty offences and conducted cross border and partnership operations.

“All whilst supporting Immediate response with 999s.”
