A community owned pub in Oswaldtwistle has started a crowdfunding campaign for a wood-fired pizza oven and is offering a year’s supply of food to those who help.

Landlord and chef patron Jamie Evans, at The Dog Inn at Belthorn, hopes the community will rally together to support the local pub by pledging into the campaign.

Everyone who pledges support will get a free pizza as a thank you, with one lucky person being in for a chance of winning one year’s supply of free food at The Dog Inn, in Belthorn Road.

The options include a three course Sunday lunch including wine for four guests, a private dining experience for eight people in your own home, and a three-course wedding breakfast for 40 people.

Speaking on why the pub has launched the campaign for a pizza oven, Jamie said: “The Dog Inn is at the heart of the community, the community pulled together to help us keep the pub in 2015 so it feels like everyone owns a piece of it – no pun intended.

“A lot of people might not come to the pub because the food we offer is a bit more upmarket, but we are hoping a pizza oven attracts families and young kids.

“There’s a market for a pizza oven because not a lot of places around here are doing authentic wood-fired pizzas so we want to be able to provide pizza.

“That little kitchen that we’ve got up here, when it gets really busy, especially when the sun’s out in the summer, we need a bit of an outlet so that’s what we’re doing it for.”

Jamie has set a target of £6,000 and has so far reached £280. You can support the campaign by clicking here.
