A town's football club is seeking permission from the council to build a new spectator stand at its ground.
Andrew Gill from Barnoldswick Town Junior Football Club applied to Pendle Council at the end of January, asking to erect a spectator shelter next to the venue’s tearoom, which was refurbished in 2020.
The club, which plays at Silentnight Stadium in Victory Park, West Close Road, has 260 members with 18 teams, and on a Saturday afternoon the pitch is used by the senior team.
The senior side plays in the North West Counties League Premier Division.
Spectators are currently standing next to the tea room on a gravelled slope to watch the games and the club would now like to make a proper patio area with a concrete base and ramped access for wheelchair users.
A planning statement lodged with the application reads: “On top of the concrete base we want to erect an open steel framed shelter to protect spectators from the weather.
“The frame would be fixed to the concrete base and would have a corrugated metal sheet roof, which would match the existing pitch/colour of our tea room.
“The cost of the project would be funded by the Junior Club.”
The club also wants to erect two steel storage containers on site, to go alongside the four already located at the ground in order to store more equipment. The containers would be painted green.
Anyone wishing to comment on the application can do so by February 21.
