A SEX offender breached notification requirements by staying at an address for more than seven days without telling the police.
Blackburn magistrates heard Brooklyn Adam Cross had gone to Merseyside to stay with an old Army buddy.
Cross, 23, of Branch Road, Burnley, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements. He was made subject to a community order for 36 months with 30 days Rehabilitation Activity Requirement. He was fined £20 and ordered to pay £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
Sameena Chaudhry, prosecuting, said Cross had stayed at the property in Huyton between November 19 and 27. Under the terms of his registration he was required to tell the police of any address where he stayed for more than seven days. She said Cross had a previous breach of the requirements
Sardar Ashgar, defending, said his client was aware of the requirements.
He said since his conviction for sexual assault in 2020 Cross had found it difficult to maintain relationships because of the stigma of the original conviction.
"In the middle of November he was not working and was in low mood," said Mr Ashgar.
"He needed to speak to someone and arranged to go and stay with an old army friend. He only expected to be there for three days."
Mr Ashgar said nobody was at risk as a result of his client failing to notify.
