A man with an ‘appalling record’ stamped on a woman after accusing her of owing him money.
Paul Creasey, of Skye Crescent, Blackburn, has been jailed again after attacking his cousin's girlfriend, punching her in the face and stamping on her.
Paul Cummings, prosecuting at Preston Crown Court, said Creasey, 40, had been at the woman’s house on Ballantrae Road, Blackburn, July 8 at about 6.30pm, with the pair drinking together.
The woman started to get tired and asked Creasey to leave so she could go to bed, but he suddenly started to accuse her of owing him money.
She said she did not and asked him about eight more times to leave before grabbing him and pushing him out the door.
Mr Cummings said: “Creasey turned around saying ‘come on then’.
“He raised his arms and looked as if he wanted to fight her.
“He punched her three or four times using both fists.
“He then shouted ‘you want to be clever about it, I’ll show you what a d***head can do.”
He punched her again and she fell to the floor, covering her face with her hands.
He then stamped on her face while she tried to protect herself.
Creasey walked away and when the woman stood up, he turned back around and asked if she wanted ‘more’.
The woman managed to get back into her home and Creasey smashed the window of a neighbour’s car.
He then went to cross the road, forcing the driver of a Mercedes-Benz car to slam on the brakes, before Creasey then headbutted the bonnet of the car four times.
When he was arrested, police said he was clearly drunk and he told officers he could not remember much of what happened.
Mitigating, Neil Howard said Creasey had a history of alcohol abuse and he had an issue with the substance.
Since the offence, his brother has died, with his other brother dying in 2015.
Creasey said he wanted to combat his issue with alcohol both for himself and for his mother who told him she ‘did not want to lose a third son to alcohol’.
His actions have also led to the fallout in the family, with Creasey no longer speaking to the woman or his cousin.
Sentencing, Recorder Jon Close said: “You attacked her. The reason for that is a mystery and will remain a mystery.
“It was completely unprovoked. You had an amicable, friendly, even close relationship.
“You are 40 years of age and you have a truly appalling record.
“This aggravates the attack.”
Creasey was jailed for 10 months and must abide by a restraining order banning him from contacting the woman for five years.
