Families are invited to hop aboard the train for a fun-packed day of activities during half-term.
Community Rail Lancashire is inviting families to Clitheroe Castle which will be hosting a packed programme of railway-related activities between 11am and 3pm on Wednesday, February 15.
From the railway station, the historic Norman castle keep and museum is only a 5-minute walk through Clitheroe town centre and the attractive landscaped grounds overlooking the Clitheroe line.
The day’s activities include a treasure hunt with a difference - seeking toy trains secreted throughout the museum.
Staff from Clitheroe Library will be on hand for some railway story-telling sessions and there’s also a chance to dress up in historic railway workers uniforms and take pictures at the ‘Selfie Stand’.
Pendle Forest Model Railway Society will also be putting on regular demonstrations of their popular ‘Flintstones’ stone age model rail layout.
The family activity day coincides with a plethora of additional railway-related activities at the Castle Museum, including ‘On Track: a glimpse into Lancashire’s Railways Past and Present’.
This exhibition delves into the history of Lancashire’s long lost branch lines and forgotten stations.
