A baker from Accrington is set to star in a TV series about weddings, that has being filmed across East Lancashire.
Leanne Cawtherley, who owns The Sweetest Thing Cakery in Accrington, thinks her business will play a major role in UKTV’s Wedding Valley, which explores the region's wedding industry.
Leanne says camera crews spent five months following her as she created wedding cakes for couples.
The 36-year-old said: “I was approached to be on the show last year for the pilot episode they filmed in spring.
“Camera crews were following me from April to September.
“I showed them the whole process of preparing a wedding cake, from consultations, decorating to delivery.
“They followed me to my allotment where I grow my own flowers and vegetables and fruit to use for the cakes.
“I was one of the main people they filmed for the whole show.”
Leanne said she made cakes for around 10 different weddings during filming.
She said: “I made wedding cakes for couples who had interesting back stories, including a couple from Australia, a Covid wedding and more.
“I think they filmed around 10 different weddings with me over the summer.”
Leanne said she didn’t suffer many baking disasters during filming but admits there was one tense moment when a cake didn’t turn out quite as she expected.
She said: “One week in June was extremely busy and one of the most hectic I’ve ever had, as I had 12 weddings that week.
“I was exhausted and eager to get the cakes finished. There was one wedding cake I wasn’t happy with as it was leaning to one side.
“When delivering the cake, I had the added pressure of the film crew and the mother of the bride watching and I was nervous.
“The customers loved the cake, it was just something I was personally nervous about.
“Other than that I can’t believe I didn’t have any major disasters.”

While Leanne is grateful for that her business is being thrust into the spotlight she is nervous to see herself on the small screen.
She said: “I am anxious because I have absolutely no idea or expectations of how I will come across.
“I was taking part purely to advertise the business, so I am looking forward to see what can come of this and how it can benefit the business.
“My family and friends can’t wait to watch it. I don’t know if I will be able to watch myself on screen but can’t wait to see my friends and other people in the industry.”
Leanne launched her business nearly 10 years ago in order to make some extra money as a student.
The Sweetest Thing Cakery started as an online before Leanne opened her shop on Warner Street in Accrington four years ago.
