A Burnley woman has been left disappointed after a parcel containing reflective gear for her assistance dog was stolen from her doorstep.
The Ring doorbell footage shows the brazen thief walking past the house on Tuesday, January 24, with two other people before quickly stopping to swipe the parcel.
Victoria Morris lives with autism so requires an assistance dog.
The parcel contained reflective gear for her dog for when they go on walks during the night, as well as a phone case for herself.
The Amazon driver delivered Victoria’s parcel, leaving it on the doorstep, at around 12.40pm on Tuesday and the footage shows that the parcel was taken within five minutes.
The 31-year-old said: “I’ve just been discharged from hospital after being in with adrenal crisis and had gone out to walk the dog when it got delivered.
“I’ve had a rubbish few days in hospital and didn’t need that on top of everything else.”
Amazon delivery policy states if no one is at the address when delivery is attempted, the parcel will be posted through the letter box, if possible, leave it in a preferred safe place or a secure location, or deliver to a neighbour, depending on the customer’s preference.
Victoria says she selected the option to leave the parcel with a neighbour.
She added: “The driver wrote on the card that he’d handed it to a receptionist and left it in the porch. My front door is not a receptionist and I do not have a porch.
“My front doorstep is on the pavement. Anyone with any sense wouldn’t leave a package there.
“I’m angry at the driver for leaving it there and at the thief for taking it. I’m disappointed that someone would do that on my doorstep but I’m glad I have Ring doorbell footage and caught the thief in the act.”
Victoria shared the video in a Burnley crime group on Facebook, hoping to identify the woman and retrieve her assistance dog’s gear but has not yet been reunited with her parcel.
The reflective gear that Victoria ordered cost £6 for a size medium and has been refunded for the stolen parcel but the same item is now out of stock on Amazon.
Victoria added: “I would have replaced it with a large size but that costs £22. Amazon’s response was to tell me to pick another product if I can’t afford it.”
