An electrical contractors company planned a special day out for East Lancashire Hospice and Darwen Football Club U14s football team.
The special sponsors day out at Wigan Athletic Football Club was arranged by Elektec, who wanted to give their guests a memorable time.
The team got to see around the DW Stadium, meet the Latics' players, and were treated to private access to the family area to watch Wigan Athletic vs Luton Town in the EFL Championship on Saturday, January 21.
Carl Knowles, managing director at Elektec, said: “Elektec have supported the Darwen FC U14s team for three years now, in the name of ourselves and East Lancashire Hospice.
“It is extremely rewarding to provide the team with memorable days out and see the players, their families and the Hospice staff come together.
“As the team get older, my wife Charlotte, plans to assist them in obtaining work experience placements and hopefully, will be completing an annual community project with them to help strengthen their CVs.
“Her ultimate goal is to support every single player on the team to achieve positive outcomes when they leave high school.”
Leanne Green, head of fundraising and marketing at East Lancashire Hospice, said: “The hospice are very proud to work with Elektec.
“We are grateful to Carl and Charlotte Knowles for sponsoring the Darwen FC U14s team on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice and for organising such a fantastic trip for the team as well.
“By them sponsoring on behalf of us, it means awareness of the hospice is out there in the local community.”
Gareth Mayoh said: "The whole team had a fantastic day! Wigan Athletic were brilliant hosts. The team enjoyed the photo opportunity on the pitch and enjoyed all the fan zone had to offer…specially the inflatable goal, table football and volleyball."
Elektec’s co-owner, Charlotte Knowles said: “Thank you to our wonderful friends at Wigan Athletic Football Club, particularly Oliver Speakman and Andy Birch, for making this happen.
“Elektec are the officially appointed electrical contractors of Wigan Athletic Football Club and having worked for them for four years, we have seen first-hand how professional and kind natured the club staff are.”
