The Met Office has issued a new yellow weather warning for ice that covers a part of East Lancashire.
The warning is in place from 5pm today until 10am tomorrow and covers large parts of the North West, including Blackburn, Darwen and parts of Rossendale.
Met Office warnings say there is potential for ice to develop and there may be challenging driving conditions on Thursday night and Friday morning.
It added to take care when using untreated roads, pavements, or cycle paths as potential injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces could occur.
With skies clearing, surfaces are expected to fall below freezing leading to ice developing on those left untreated.
The chief forecaster said: "Wintry showers will gradually die out through Thursday night and with skies clearing, surfaces are expected to fall below freezing leading to ice developing on untreated surfaces."
Temperatures are expected to dip to -1°C in Blackburn tonight before becoming warmer throughout Friday and increasing gradually over the weekend.
There is no more snow predicted in the area, with wintry showers gradually dying out through Thursday night.
In Blackburn, cloud looks set to remain for the rest of Thursday before clearing early on Friday and sending the mercury plummeting below freezing.
A stiff breeze and gusts of more than 20mph will also make the air feel even colder.
It's set to remain clear and sunny throughout Friday but will not get much above freezing, before another clear night sees the temperature dip again into the weekend.
From midday on Saturday cloud looks set to roll in and will keep the temperature slightly warmer, in the high single digits into next week.
