Young netball players across Wyre have been given a helping hand by a local business.

Freeport Fleetwood outlet shopping village is the new sponsor of the recently formed Fleetwood Junior Netball Club and has provided the team with a new kit.

The Junior Netball Club, originally set up by local teachers Mrs Colette Orwin from Cardinal Allen School and Miss Melissa Walsh from Fleetwood Sports College, aims to promote interest in the sport within the local area in a bid to help young people to lead healthier and more active lifestyles.

Mrs Orwin, coach for the team, said: "The club is open to members of 14 years or above for competitive matches, but we are hoping to extend the offering to under 13 year olds too.

"We are delighted that Freeport Fleetwood has been able to provide us with the much needed kits which will really help us to feel like a winning team.

"The team's first match has already resulted in a victory, so we hope that we can continue to go from strength to strength."
