Traffic is building on the M61 as two lanes are closed following a crash.
The crash took place on the M61 northbound carriageway between junction 6 and junction 8 near Rivington Services.
The accident was first reported at around 12.30pm today (January 8).
Traffic is building as lanes two and three have been closed.
Normal traffic conditions are expected between 1.30pm and 1.45pm today.
Traffic Delays website wrote: “Lanes 2 and 3 are closed. The event is expected to clear between 1.30pm and 1.45 on January 8.
“Return To Normal: Normal traffic conditions are expected between 13:30 and 13:45 on 8 January.”
Traffic updates website, INRIX states: “Partially blocked and queueing traffic due to crash on M61 Northbound after M61 (Rivington Services). J6 to J8.
“Delays of three minutes and delays increasing on M61 Northbound between J6 A6027 De Havilland Way (Horwich) and J8 A674 Millennium Way (Chorley). Average speed 20 mph.”
It is unknown whether there are any injuries.
Police have been contacted for more information.
