A fire broke out at a derelict building in Preston yesterday.

At around 11.30am yesterday (December 31), six fire engines were call out to a blaze on Brookfield Street.

Crews from Preston, Fulwood, Blackpool, Penwortham, and Bamber Bridge attended the scene.

Firefighters used hose reels and breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and an investigation is underway.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Six fire engines from Preston, Fulwood, Blackpool, Penwortham and Bamber Bridge were called to a derelict building fire on Brookfield Street, Preston.

“Crews are using hose reels and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
