A Whalley café and bakery has thanked customers for coming to say goodbye as they closed their doors for good.

Tastebuds in Whalley announced they had closed both of their branches, café-bistro at 1 George Street and the bakery at 36 King Street, on December 20.

The closure was a result of the ‘troubled economic times’ but staff wanted to thank their staff for their hard work and their customers for their loyalty over the years.

The café ran a closing-down sale on Friday (December 30), selling off cutlery, glassware and plates to customers.

Following the sale, a spokesperson for Tastebuds said: “A massive big thank you to everyone who popped in yesterday to say goodbye and buy a little momentum from the cafe.

“We'll miss you all so much, thank you for your support over the years.

“Take care and Happy New Year to you all.”

Tastebuds at Whalley launched in 2018 and Julie opened their King Street Tastebuds Sweet and Savoury site in September of this year.

They aren't the only business in Lancashire to have fallen victim to the cost of living crisis this year.

Owners of The Park pub in Great Harwood, left in September as bills soared.

Chung’s Chinese Chippy, in Accrington Road, Intack, closed in October due to the cost of living crisis.

Italian restaurant Amalfi Lounge, in Darwen, also fell victim to the current economic climate and shut its doors in November.
