A community interest company is celebrating after receiving £95,000 over three years in National Lottery funding to help people with long Covid.

Brain Health Breakthrough CIC, based in Hyndburn and Darwen, has been awarded the money from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.

Brain Health Breakthrough CIC will use their funding to provide support for people with long Covid and their families.

Strategic peer support lead, Karen Haworth, said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can Offer more peer support groups for people with long Covid, offer support to other groups running peer long Covid peer support throughout Lancashire, we can also offer family support and peer support training.

“We are looking froward to bringing more awareness about long Covid.

"This will make a big difference to people’s lives.”

The funding will support local people and their families who have been affected by long Covid with peer support groups, family support and peer support training with more provision starting in the new year.

National Lottery players raise more than £30m a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.

During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1bn to charities and community organisations across the UK.
