Two brothers who run a vehicle recycling company in Hyndburn are celebrating after winning two industry awards thanks to their amusing YouTube videos.
James and John Spencer, who run Baxenden Car Breakers, won Sales or Marketing Initiative of the Year, and a gold award for Smaller Vehicle Recycler of the Year at the ATF Professional Vehicle Recycling Excellence Awards earlier this year.
A spokesperson for the company said the awards are a considerable achievement in a very saturated industry with strict requirements, laws and regulations.
The Spencer brothers first began stripping and selling cars around 18 years ago, at the tender age of 13, and then started their business from scratch, and have spent the last nine years learning their trade inside-out.
Since then, they have built new garages at their Victoria Mill site and are looking at increasing their presence in the industry by stocking more parts, expanding their site even more and moving into breaking electric vehicles.
The recent award wins came off the back of the brothers setting up a YouTube channel in 2020, where they entertain and inform their subscribers, of which they now have more than 9,500, with amusing videos.
They told ATF Professional: “We have always wanted to have some kind of YouTube presence but never felt like we were in a position to do so.
“But since starting the videos, the response has been great.”
The brothers said it’s always interesting to hear from their customers via YouTube, and one has even asked for a Baxenden Car Breakers Hi-Vis after viewing them on the social media platform.
They now hope to grow their channel so it can generate income for them and help accelerate the company even more.
A spokesperson for the company said: “There is a common misconception about organisations like ours and we are very proud to have received both Sales or Marketing Initiative of the Year and also a gold award for Smaller Vehicle Recycler of the Year.”
