There are delays of 45 minutes on the M6 southbound after a crash in which a vehicle left the carriageway.
Two of three lanes have been closed on the M6 between junction 36 for Milton and junction 35 for Carnforth.
Police are currently in attendance but the lane closures are causing delays of approximately 45 minutes and the incident is not expected to be clear until at least 2.30pm.
Motorists are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys if travelling on the M6 this afternoon.
It is not yet known the severity of the crash or if anyone has been injured as a result.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: "Two (of three) lanes are closed on the M6 in Lancashire southbound between J36 (near Milton) and J35 (near Carnforth) due to a collision.
"Lancashire Police are in attendance. There are delays of 45 minutes above normal travel times on approach.
"Please allow extra journey time."
