People visiting one of Lancashire's seaside resorts this week were in for a treat as a marine mammal clambered ashore for a little rest from the cold of the Irish Sea.
Blackpool Council posted a picture of the "super cute" seal on their social media page on Friday after a member of their beach patrol unit noticed it resting on the sand close to one of the town's piers.
After checking that the seal was ok, the beach patrol staff left it to get on with its day, before it returned to the icy waters.
A spokesperson for the council said: "This super cute seal came ashore for a little rest today.
"A member of our Beach Patrol team spotted the visitor, checked all was well and got this picture in the process."
