Blackburn Rovers and a Blackburn charity have teamed up to provide a hospital with life improving equipment.
Blackburn-based Benefit Mankind and the football club launched an appeal to support cancer patients with scan watches which will help cancer patients at the Christie Hospital in Manchester.
Charity ambassador and Rovers midfielder, Bradley Dack made a video to help with the appeal and helped raised funds for the great cause.
Thanks to the appeal, the charity managed to raise £2,140 which they put towards 10 watches.
Benefit Mankind shared pictures of Bradley at the hospital, where he was shown around its proton beam therapy centre.
Dr Abdussamad Mulla, chief executive at Benefit Mankind said: “We are extremely grateful and humbled to be able to work alongside the Christies Hospital to provide these scan watches.
"As always we are thankful to Blackburn Rovers Football Club for supporting all our projects, together we have delivered £2,140 towards 10 watches.
“We hope to continue raising funds for the hospital and try and save as many lives as possible.”
Louise Stimson, head of fundraising at The Christie charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Benefit Mankind for their very generous donation to The Christie charity.
“The funding will support a clinical trial for wearable technology for some of our proton beam therapy patients.
“Our proton beam centre patients are also thrilled to receive presents from Benefit Mankind.
"We enjoyed meeting representatives from Benefit Mankind and their supporters from Blackburn Rovers and showing them around the proton beam therapy centre.
“Special thanks to the charity ambassador Bradley Dack for also attending and sharing smiles at the centre.
“The Christie charity supports the work of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust providing enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds.
“This includes money for care and treatment, research, education and extra patient services.
"Donations make a huge difference to the care and treatment that The Christie is able to provide to patients and their families.”
The partnership between Blackburn Rovers and Benefit Mankind over the past two seasons has helped reach out to the homeless in Lancashire as well as tackling domestic violence and providing football kits to various countries, Bradley Dack also donated his wages to help those struggling during covid and the cost-of-living crisis.
