Two footballers delighted people at an East Lancashire hospice when they paid a visit earlier this week.

Burnley Football Club’s Jay Rodriguez and Josh Brownhill visited Pendleside Hospice, on Colne Road in Burnley, on Tuesday, December 13.

They greeted staff, patients and volunteers at the hospice and wished everyone a Merry Christmas.

The hospice shared pictures of their visit, as they posed with staff and patients and signed Burnley shirts.

A spokesperson for Pendleside Hospice said: “The staff, patients and volunteers at Pendleside Hospice had so much fun on Tuesday with Burnley FC stars Jay Rodriguez and Josh Brownhill.

“The players popped in to Pendleside to say hello and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

“We want to thank them for their ongoing support and all they do for the hospice - we really appreciate it.”

It’s not the first time Jay has visited the hospice as he is has been a Pendleside ambassador for more than four years. The organisation looked after his grandad.

At the beginning of the pandemic, the Burnley forward purchased some PPE for staff, when shortages were low, so the hospice could continue its critical work in a safe manner.
