The fire and rescue service has issued a warning after a spate of bin fires in an East Lancashire town.
Firefighters in Darwen say they have been “repeatedly” called out to wheelie bin fires.
They have also shared images of some of the bin fires they have attended. One of these was taken at Sunnyhurst Wood in Darwen.
In order to combat the issue, the fire service has urged homeowners to keep wheelie bins off the streets when it is not bin collection day.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Recently, firefighters in Darwen have repeatedly been called out to fires involving wheelie bins.
“If possible, please keep your wheelie bins off the street when it's not collection day.
“After collection, put your bins away promptly to dissuade troublemakers.”
