Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team were called out to help paramedics treat an injured person.
The North West Ambulance Service struggled to gain access to a patient’s property due to the heavy snow and ice so RPMRT crews made their way to the scene.
At around 7.20am today (December 10), they made their way to the house near Whitwell Bottom and transported the NWAS crew to the patient’s address.
The RPMRT volunteers remained at the location whilst the ambulance crew dealt with the injury and contacted a doctor as they were unable to transport the patient to the hospital.
A spokesperson for the RPMRT said: “This morning, the team were contact to assist the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) with access to a patient’s property near Whitwell Bottom, where the crew were unable to proceed due to the snow/ice.
“Team members made their way to the location, along with Mobile 2 our 4x4 Hilux, which met with and then transported the NWAS crew to the patient’s address.
“Once there, they met with some of our team who had made their way up to the casualty’s home on foot.
"Our team volunteers remained at the location whilst the crew dealt with the casualty and also contacted the on call doctor to discuss options of treatment that may be better than moving the casualty and taking them to hospital.
“Once this was sorted, team members were able to stand down and return home / to their day. The team vehicle returned to base and was sorted for any further deployments.”
