Snow and icy roads have sparked severe disruptions in Blackburn today.
Motorists have been asked to take extra care while travelling as the ice and snow has caused icy patches on untreated roads, pavements, and cycle paths.
Traffic is moving slowly on and near Barbara Castle Way as heavy snowfall causes havoc on the roads.
Other roads affected include Preston New Road, Saunders Road, Buncer Lane, Redlam, Montague Street and King Street so drivers are being asked to avoid these busy roads.
Long queues of traffic have been building throughout the afternoon as temperatures continue to plummet and heavier snow falls.
Fans heading home from the Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End game also found themselves stuck in traffic on the main roads out of the town.

Traffic updates website, INRIX states: “Severe delays of twelve minutes and delays increasing on B6447 Buncer Lane Northbound between Hamilton Street and Livingstone Road. Average speed five mph.”
Emergency services have dealt with a number of crashes this morning as a result of the icy roads and snow and urging motorists to allow plenty of time for journeys and drive carefully.
The Met Office has issued a yellow ice warning due to the frosty weather which is likely to cause come injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
The Met Office has warned that temperatures in Blackburn could plunge to -9 °C tonight, turning very cold and frosty with mist and freezing fog forming in places.
