Firefighters freed a swan stuck in a frozen lake yesterday.
The swan was trapped in a lake that had frozen over on Slyne Road in Lancaster on Thursday (December 8).
At around 6pm, two fire engines from Lancaster and Morecambe fled to the scene to rescue the bird from the ice using a ceiling hook. It took approximately half an hour to free the swan.
This was the second animal rescue of the evening for Penwortham Fire Station. They said: “We always advise members of the public consider their own safety first and not enter open water or frozen areas.”
