A WOMAN who was released early from prison on a home curfew went on a spree of offending similar t the one which had put her behind bars.
Blackburn magistrates heard Amy Barnes committed seven theft offences at a Nelson shop and each one of them put her in breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order.
Barnes, 26, of Newfield Drive, Nelson, pleaded guilty to six charges of theft and one of attempted theft from the One Stop Shop, Netherfield Road, and seven breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order. She was jailed for 12 months and ordered to pay £187 victim surcharge on release.
Joe Seale, prosecuting, said the Criminal Behaviour Order was made in April and in September Barnes had been jailed for 10 months for a number of thefts and breaches of the order. She was released in November on home curfew.
"Very soon after she has gone on another spree," said Mr Seale. "The offending is persistent. The individual offences are not serious but they cause loss and angst for those who have to deal with them in the community."
Mark Williams, defending, said his client's partner was involved in drugs and she had become embroiled.
"Since 2019 most of the offences she has committed have been to fund her habit," said Mr Williams. "She came out of prison on November 17 and was struggling financially. She tried to borrow money and then started shoplifting again."
