Two events have raised nearly £2,000 to go towards community defibrillators in Rossendale.
DJ Chilly – real name Tom Ormerod – went back behind the decks at Northern Whisper in Rawtenstall last Friday (December 2) to help raise £1,500 for a fourth community access defibrillator to in Rawtenstall town centre.
Rossendale Community First Responders also helped at Helmshore Farmers’ Market, donning Christmas disguises and holding a bottle tombola which raises £420.
DJ Tom, 32, suffered a heart attack during a day trip to Blackpool when he was 26 and was saved by a passerby who happened to know CPR.
He first started DJing when he was 12 and started to DJ online again towards the end of the pandemic.
His dad, Michael, works at Northern Whisper which has a pub next to Rawtenstall Market, where Tom got behind the decks once again to deliver the set, which was also streamed on Twitch.
Donations towards the defibrillator fund were made for every beer that was sold on the night.
Also sold were cookies - with each bag potentially containing a prize - neon bracelets and neon necklaces, as well as there being collection buckets.
