A much-loved annual Christmas tractor run returned to Darwen at the weekend, raising a huge £5,000 for the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team and Turton Youth Farmers Club.

The Turton Youth Farmers Club charity Christmas Tractor Run returned to East Lancashire for it’s second year on Sunday, December 4, and organisers are already looking forward to hosting it again next year.

The event began at approximately 4pm leaving from Brocklehead Farm, Darwen, before travelling past the Golden Cup, through Darwen Town Centre, past Ocean Palace, onto the Cross Guns in Egerton, past Bromley Cross Train Station, onto Turton Tower, and heading past the Black Bull in Edgworth at 5.30pm.

The tractor run then travelled past Toby in Broadhead, past the Grey Mare on Grane Road, past the Dog Inn, Belthorn, onto Hoddlesden before finishing back at Brocklehead Farm at 6.30pm.

Natalie Wood, a Club Leader for Turton Youth Farmers Club said the event was a huge success.

She said: “The event went really well, we had about 83 tractors and tractor units out on the road!

“Resident responses were great; people were seen lining the streets, in some places people even had fire pits set up at the side of the road to keep them warm as they waited for us to arrive.

“I’m a club leader for the club and so far, we have raised for our two causes, Turton YFC and Bolton Mountain, just over £5,000 but still have some money to come in.

“How I feel after the event is relieved, I couldn’t have done it without the committee, but I think we are ready to go for it again next year.

“Everyone who has been involved no matter how big or small has helped us to ensure that this event has been a huge success and we cannot thank them enough!”

People flocked to the streets across Lancashire to see the tractors make a very special appearance at the same time as raising vital funds that will go a long way to support the two causes.
