An air ambulance was called and a man has been taken to hospital after a crash which closed a major town centre road.
UPDATE: The road has now re-opened.
Police closed Colne Road from Burnley town centre to the junction of Hebrew Road in both directions earlier this afternoon following a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The ambulance service said that they sent various resources, including an air ambulance, but the man in his 60s was taken to hospital in an ambulance with a head injury.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We were called at 12:51pm to an incident involving a vehicle and a male.
"We sent various resources including an air ambulance. We took the patient, a male in his 60s, to hospital with a head injury by road ambulance."
The road remains closed and the public is being asked to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the crash.
A spokesperson for the police said: “Please be advised that the A682 Colne Road in Burnley is currently closed from Burnley town centre to the junction with Hebrew Road in both directions due to a road traffic collision.
“Please avoid the area where possible.”
