A hotel in Burnley has scooped a ‘Business Excellence in Burnley’ Award at the annual awards ceremony hosted by Burnley Council.

The Crow Wood Hotel and Spa resort on Holme Road, was crowned one of the three winners for their ‘exceptional business contribution’ to the borough and commitment to their long-term investment in the area.

The Crow Wood hotel only finished being built in October 2019, just five months before Covid-19 pandemic crashed the wedding industry.

Since then, the resort bounced back and has been working on its £15m refurbishment project of the gym and spa which will see the facility double in size, and will take around two years.

Andrew Brown, managing director of Crow Wood, said: “We’re proud to have been presented with Burnley Council’s Business Excellence in Burnley Awards, marking our commitment to the borough as well as the long-term investment we are making in the local area.

“I’m delighted to have received this award on behalf of Crow Wood. Investing in growth and development is all important to us, both in terms of what we offer to our members and guests and also in the personal and professional development of our colleagues. They are what makes Crow Wood a very special place to be.”

Burnley Council also presented Business Excellence in Burnley awards to two other local businesses, BCW Manufacturing Group, and Hycrome.

Senior managers at Hycrome were presented with a 25-year award, while 20-year awards were given to BCW and Crow Wood.

They were presented during visits to the companies by Councillor Mark Townsend, the council’s executive member for economy and growth, Kate Ingram, the council’s strategic head of economy and growth, and council chief executive Mick Cartledge.

Cllr Townsend, the council’s executive member for economy and growth, said: “All three businesses are leaders in their field and have national and international reputations.

“The Business Excellence in Burnley award does what it says; it recognises excellence but also investment, innovation and a drive to be the best.

"We have some world-beating businesses in our borough and we need to give them all due recognition for their outstanding efforts.”
