A MAN launched a brutal attack on his partner who was still weak after undergoing an emergency C-section just two weeks earlier.

Blackburn magistrates heard Kane Hunter complained about having to look after their baby even though his partner was not strong enough to pick the child up.

He then started shouting about having to do all the housework and look after her four year old daughter which scared the young girl and she started crying.

Carl Gaffney, prosecuting, told the court the victim left her own house and went into the back yard to try and de-escalate the situation.

"He followed her out and started shouting," said Mr Gaffney. "He then gripped her by the neck and threw her to the floor and her head hit the concrete.

"He picked her up by the dressing gown collar, pushed her against the door, put both hands around her neck and started to squeeze," said Mr Gaffney. "She was terrified and didn't think he was going to stop. She said he looked her in the eye and she could see he was so angry."

The attack stopped when a neighbour shouted at the defendant.

Wazeem Chowdhary, defending, said his client was extremely remorseful and regretful.

"He says it was a momentary loss of self-control," said Mr Chowdhary.

Hunter, 26, of Crabtree Avenue, Waterfoot, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation. He was committed in custody to Burnley Crown Court to be sentenced on January 11.
